    Leiper's Fork

The present village of Leipers Fork is situated on part of the 2,504 acres of Col. Jesse Steed, then purchased by Jesse Benton who unfortunately never lived on his land due to an untimely death. Attracted by the opportunities in the West, Jesse's widow Nancy and her children moved here, to what was first known as Benton Town. After a few years of an established community, Nancy renamed the village Hillsboro after her home in Hillsborough, North Carolina. In 1818 a post office was granted to the village due to its growth and its location on the National Road from Natchez to Nashville; however, a Hillsboro, Tennessee had already been established in Coffee County so the name of the village was changed to Leiper's Fork. The name was taken from the Leiper family who settled much of the land along the creek passing through the village. Since a time of local preservation and separation from growing suburban life in the county, it has become a unique community of farmers, artists and musicians who appreciate its down home feel and peaceful rolling hills. Today, Leipers Fork is the area of choice for families wanting to experience an authentic, breathing village near Nashville and Franklin; it's full of bright characters who will delight and charm you with their stories of daily life. Leiper's Fork is a Registered National Historic District and contains some of the few remaining examples of late 19th century architecture once characteristic of a previous time.

The median home value for this area is approximately $253,442 (suburb of Thompson's Station), located southeast of Nashville off of I-65. It is nearly 30-35 minutes from the center of downtown, and the primary flagship streets are Old Hillsboro Road, Floyd Road and Southall Road. Leipers Fork shares Thompson's Station's public school districts; this includes 3 elementary (Heritage, Longview, Chapman's Retreat), 1 middle (Heritage) and 1 high (Independence) establishment. Locals delight in Leipers Fork Park, Jailhouse Industries, Williamson County Poor Farm, Puckett's After Hours, the Lawn Chair Theater as well as the many general stores and boutiques found on the main strip of the village.
